Faro DOC 2018 Palari
Palari winery's Faro DOC 2018 is a Sicilian red wine of exceptional elegance and complexity, aged for 18 months in new Tronçais and Allier barriques, followed by an additional 18 months of bottle aging. This wine represents one of the island's finest excellences, produced in the historic Faro appellation, located on the extreme eastern tip of Sicily, overlooking the Strait of Messina.
The Palari winery is located in Contrada Palari, near Santo Stefano Briga, south of Messina. Here, old sapling vines grow on steep sandy terraces, a short distance from the sea. The windy climate, mitigated by sea breezes, favors perfect ripening of the grapes. Faro DOC is composed mainly of Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Nocera, with small percentages of other local varieties.
After a traditional red vinification with maceration on the skins, the wine is aged in new barriques for 18 months, developing a unique aromatic complexity. Subsequently, the wine rests in bottle for another 18 months, reaching a maturity that is expressed in a deep and harmonious sip.
In the glass, Faro DOC 2018 shows a ruby red color, enriched with garnet reflections. On the nose, it reveals an intense and refined bouquet, with notes of violets, currants, berries, warm spices, humus and mineral hints of graphite. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and enveloping, with elegant tannins and an aromatically complex center of mouth. The finish is long, lingering and slightly spicy, with a fresh finish that invites a new sip.
This wine pairs perfectly with red meat dishes, game and aged cheeses. Its complexity and structure make it ideal for accompanying important dinners and tasting moments.
