Fleurie 2021 Petit Roy

Petit Roy's Fleurie is a precious expression of Gamay from the vineyards owned by Château du Poncié, sharing the same viticulture philosophies as Seiichi Saito. The grapes come from a vineyard located on a northeast-facing slope, covering 0.17 hectares. This cool area features granitic soils that ensure excellent soil drainage.

After manual harvest, the grapes undergo a 3-day cold maceration and a brief spontaneous whole-cluster fermentation in a 3850-liter tank, with gentle punch-downs. The wine then ages for 12 months in used barrels and another 8 months in tank, without clarification or filtration.

The result is an extraordinary wine that embodies the unique character of the Fleurie terroir. It releases aromas of fresh red fruits, wildflowers, and subtle spices. On the palate, it stands out for its freshness and liveliness, with an elegant structure and soft tannins. Petit Roy's Fleurie is a winemaking masterpiece that captures the pure and authentic essence of the Beaujolais region.
