Fleurie La Vigne des Fous 2019 Magnum Domaine Marc Delienne
Domaine Marc Delienne's Fleurie La Vigne des Fous 2019 is a red wine produced in the Fleurie appellation in the Burgundy region of France. The grape variety used in the production of this wine is Gamay, from a vineyard of old vines over 90 years old, grown organically and biodynamically.
The vines are grown without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, but rather natural methods, such as crop rotation, selective pruning and the use of compost and biodynamic preparations, are used to maintain the balance of the soil and vines. Biodynamics also involves respecting nature's natural cycles, including lunar and solar cycles, to promote vine health and grape quality.
Grapes are hand-picked and carefully selected before being brought to the winery. Once here, the grapes undergo pre-fermentation maceration at low temperatures for about 7-10 days. Thereafter, fermentation occurs spontaneously thanks to indigenous yeasts present on the grape skins. The fermentation process lasts about 25 days and takes place in concrete tanks.
After fermentation, the wine is racked and placed in French oak barrels for aging for about 12 months. During this period, the wine undergoes slight oxidation, which helps develop aromatic and flavor complexity.
Domaine Marc Delienne's 2019 Fleurie La Vigne des Fous shows a deep, deep red color. On the nose, it offers a bouquet of ripe red fruits, such as cherries, raspberries and strawberries, accompanied by spicy and tobacco notes. In the mouth, it is rich and complex, with good structure and silky tannins. The aftertaste is long and persistent, with a pleasant mineral note.
