Frappato di Vittoria Contrada Bombolieri 2019 Arianna Occhipinti
Frappato is the wine Arianna Occhipinti is most fond of because it is the first project she worked on: this grape is usually used in blends with Nero d'Avola to obtain 'Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG', and Occhipinti was one of the first wineries to believe in the potential of this grape variety in purity.
The Frappato 'BB' Contrada Bombolieri 2019 is part of the 'Vini di Contrada' project, i.e. wines made from the same grape from three different contrade in the area, each with its own character and peculiarities. The Contrada Bolbolieri is characterised by very calcareous soil and a layer of thinner sands, and in the part where the soil is more clayey-calcareous lies the 'Strada' vineyard from where the grapes used to produce this label come.
This red wine is produced by Arianna Occhipinti using natural methods: it ferments spontaneously in cement tanks and matures for a few months in used oak barrels. The Frappato "BB" Contrada Bombolieri 2019 expresses a ruby red colour to the eye, while the nose offers aromas of rose and cherry, spices and aromatic herbs. The mouthfeel is animated by a nice dose of freshness, directness and authenticity.
