Gevrey-Chambertin 2019 1er Cru Bel Air Domaine Taupenot Merme
Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Bel Air 2019 is a fine red wine from Burgundy produced by Domaine Taupenot Merme. It is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes from the eponymous 1er Cru vineyard, located above the renowned Grand Cru vineyard of Chambertin-Clos-de-Bèze. The upper part of the vineyard, closest to the forest, is classified as village, while the lower part bordering the Clos, where this Gevrey-Chambertin comes from, is classified as Premier Cru.
The special conditions under which the vines are planted, such as the height and steep slope, give the wine a higher acidity than many other Premier Crus. The grapes are processed according to organic and sustainable farming principles, and aged in 30% new oak for between 12 and 14 months.
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Bel Air shows a bright ruby red colour to the eye, with a predominantly fruity and mineral nose. The sip is medium-bodied, lively and juicy with well-integrated tannins.
