Gevrey-Chambertin 2018 Thierry Mortet
Gevrey-Chambertin 2018 is a fine French Burgundy wine produced by Domaine Thierry Mortet. It is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes that come from 20 different parcels of 3 hectares in total, resting on clay-limestone soils of different structures: stony, clayey or rocky.
The grapes are harvested by hand with careful selection, followed by a 15-day maceration, cold stabilisation for 4-5 days, fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 4 months. Ageing takes place in oak barrels for 16 months (1/3 new, 1/3 wine 1 barrels and 1/3 wine 2 barrels).
The cuvées are then put together at the time of bottling. The Gevrey-Chambertin 2018 Thierry Mortet has a brilliant ruby red colour , while the nose expresses an elegant bouquet of liquorice, ripe blackberries and red fruits, aromas that change and evolve with time to give deeper hints and spicy nuances. On the palate it is rich, full, balanced and has good length. It pairs perfectly with red meats, meat sauce and game, as well as cow's milk cheeses.
