Grattamacco Bolgheri Superiore 2016 Collemassari
Grattamacco Bolgheri Superiore 2016 is a fine Tuscan wine produced by the Podere Grattamacco winery, which since 2002 has been part of the Collemassari group, an entity that includes a large number of prestigious Tuscan wineries. The winery, located in the renowned wine-growing area between the hills of Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci, produces this great classic, one of the most important and renowned wines of the Bolgheri appellation.
It is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 65%, Merlot 20% and Sangiovese 15% from a 10-hectare vineyard situated 100 metres above sea level. Fermentation takes place in open truncated conical wooden vats, after which the wine matures for 18 months in first and second passage barriques before further ageing in the bottle.
Grattamacco Bolgheri Superiore 2016 is a wine of great personality, elegant and intense, which expresses in the glass a deep ruby red colour and then gives the nose a bouquet mainly of fruity and Mediterranean notes, accompanied by hints of balsamic and a slight smoky finish, given by the wood. The taste is austere and incredibly fresh and tannic, with a long finish and mineral and savoury notes. Already enjoyable if drunk now, it will reach its full potential after a few years of ageing in the cellar.
