L’Aubier 2022 by Jean-Baptiste Hardy is a rich and silky Chardonnay, showcasing the talent of a young winemaker already regarded as one of the rising stars of French viticulture. After training under the renowned Jean-Marc Roulot in Meursault, Hardy took over his family’s estate in Mouzillon, located in the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine region, and implemented organic practices to highlight the terroir’s quality and character.
Crafted from young Chardonnay vines, L’Aubier 2022 stands out for its complexity and elegance. The hand-harvested grapes are carefully vinified, following a minimalist approach that includes lees aging in traditional glass-lined underground tanks, with no fining or filtration. The result is a wine with a captivating aromatic profile, featuring nuances of honey, ginger, and a subtle minerality.
Already acclaimed for his single-plot Muscadets, Jean-Baptiste Hardy marries textural richness with refined minerality. With L’Aubier, he continues to demonstrate his ambitious vision, proving that Chardonnay from the Muscadet region can rival the great whites of Burgundy. This wine is an excellent companion to rich fish dishes, shellfish, or creamy cheeses.
