La Deuse 2021 Domaine Partagé Gilles Berlioz
'La Deuse' is the only Domaine Gilles Berlioz cuvée made from the Mondeuse grape variety in purity. Mondeuse is the most widespread red grape variety in Savoie. Before the phylloxera epidemic in 1800, the Mondeuse occupied most of the Savoy soil. Today, however, it covers only about 200 hectares, surpassed by Jacquère and Altesse, white grape varieties that account for 70% of the total Savoy vineyard.
It is often vinified in blends with Pinot Noir or Gamay, more rarely on its own, as in this case. Domaine Gilles Berlioz's Deuse 2021 is a mature and elegant Savoy red wine, probably one of the best versions of this grape variety produced in Savoy. Intense and structured, it is characterised by a pleasant bouquet composed of aromas of flowers such as peony and violet, fruity raspberry, spicy notes of black pepper and earthy notes. The sip is vigorous and harmonious, very persistent.
