Langhe Nebbiolo 2009 Fontanafredda
The Langhe Nebbiolo 2009 by Fontanafredda is a refined expression of the Nebbiolo grape, balancing youthful vibrancy with aging potential. Produced in the hills of Langhe and Roero, on calcareous and sandy soils at altitudes of 250-400 meters above sea level, this wine elegantly showcases its terroir’s aromatic complexity. The vines are trained using the Guyot system at a density of 4,500 vines per hectare, ensuring meticulous care during cultivation.
The harvest occurs in the first and second weeks of October. Vinification follows traditional methods, with fermentation in stainless steel tanks using the floating cap technique for 7-8 days at a controlled temperature of 28 °C.
Aging takes place in wooden barrels for several months, followed by a minimum of 2-3 months in the bottle. This dual aging process ensures a balanced and harmonious character.
Tasting Notes: When young, this wine exudes a fragrant bouquet of red fruits, violets, and subtle earthy undertones. Over time, it develops garnet hues with orange reflections and a deeper aromatic profile, including notes of dried roses and geraniums. On the palate, it is warm, velvety, and full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a persistent finish.
Food Pairing: Perfectly complements flavorful first courses like risottos and pasta with meat sauces, roasted or braised meats, and medium-aged cheeses. A versatile wine for both casual and elegant occasions.
