Langhe Nebbiolo Sorì San Lorenzo 2004 Gaja
Langhe Nebbiolo Sorì San Lorenzo 2004 is a fine Piedmontese wine produced by the historic and renowned Gaja winery. It is made from 95% Nebbiolo and 5% Barbera grapes from the homonymous cru in Barbaresco (Piedmont).
The term Sorì indicates the portion of hillside exposed to the south, while Lorenzo is the patron saint of the cathedral of the city of Alba, whose parish benefice was the owner until 1964 of the vineyard subsequently purchased by the Gaja family. It is almost always the most powerful and perhaps the most majestic of Gaja's five individual vineyards, and the one that reaches full maturity in the bottle the latest.
A wine of great elegance and finesse, with an intense purple-red colour, it presents itself to the nose with a fine and complex bouquet, with fruity aromas of blackberry and wild berries, red fruit jam and hints of coffee, liquorice, spices and dried fruit. The taste is velvety, warm and soft, with fine and elegant tannins that give it nobility and great structure.
