Les Christine Chignin Bergeron Roussanne 2020 Domaine Partagé Gilles Berlioz
The cuvée Christine Chignin Bergeron of Domaine Partagé Gilles Berlioz is a fascinating version of pure Roussanne, a white grape variety typical of the Rhône Valley but which has also spread to other French regions such as Savoy and Provence thanks to its characteristic acidity that predisposes it to ageing.
The vines are about 20 years old and grow on clay-limestone soils exposed to the south in 'Les Châteaux'. The wine is produced using biodynamic farming methods: it ferments spontaneously and matures in fibreglass 'eggs' for about 6 months.
The skilful hands of Gilles Berlioz are able to give a profound and fascinating expression of this grape variety in purity, yet another label that confirms that Domaine Partagè Gilles Berlioz is capable of creating wines with unprecedented personality and depth.
"Les Christine Chignin Bergeron Roussanne 2020" is characterised by an intense colour, a nose that expresses a multifaceted bouquet made up of notes of honey, peony petals, raspberry and spices, for a complex but taut sip, with the classic bitterish finish that characterises Berlioz wines.
