Les Filles Chignin Bergeron Roussanne 2020 Domaine Partagé Gilles Berlioz
'The Girls' is the name of this fine white wine from Savoie, with a label for this 2020 vintage that has been entrusted to an artist who is a little bit of a provocateur, a little bit of a reference to the purity and essentiality that are at the heart of the production philosophy of Domaine Partagé Gilles Berlioz, a reference in Savoie for biodynamic viticulture.
Gilles Berlioz's talent and love of terroir have made it possible to create a range of white wines reserved for a restricted niche that are now known and sought after all over the world, such as this 'Les Filles Chignin Bergeron Roussanne 2020': a fine white wine obtained from the Roussanne vine, a white grape from the Rhone Valley known locally as Bergeron, which gives life to powerful white wines that are predisposed to long ageing.
The vines are around 20 years old and come from a small plot of 1.2 hectares in the Chignin-Bergeron appellation, on soils composed of limestone and black marl in the subsoil. Following a spontaneous fermentation, this wine is aged for 8 months in fibreglass eggs.
Les Filles Chignin Bergeron Roussanne 2020 from Domaine Gilles Berlioz expresses a deep straw colour to the eye, while the nose is enveloped in notes of honey, flowers, plum and hazelnut. In the mouth, the Savoy limestone gives the wine an incredible minerality and freshness and the long sip ends in a spicy finish.
