Les Frénelles 2020 Domaine de Trivel
Domaine de Trivel's "Les Frénelles" cuvée is made from Cabernet Franc grapes grown on sandy soil and a black shale subsoil, the particular terroir gives a lot of character and allowed the Domaine to create this singular, fruity and elegant cuvée. When you arrive at this parcel, you immediately sense the uniqueness of this place. Bounded by uncultivated land, hedges and meadows, one feels isolated, cut off from the rest of the vineyard. One wishes to stay there, to enjoy the serenity that the place offers.
The vines from which the grapes come are at least 25 years old and are cultivated according to the principles of organic viticulture, for which the Domaine is certified. The rule of minimum intervention applies in the vineyard, excluding all chemical products. After manual harvesting, the grapes are taken to the winery where they are destemmed and then crushed before being left to macerate for about 30 days. Fermentation occurs spontaneously through indigenous yeasts, and the must undergoes no pumping over or punching down. After racking it is left to mature for 12 months in Burgundian barriques. The wine is not filtered before bottling.
Les Frénelles is a beautiful ruby red color in the glass with a very inviting nose of small red and black fruits. In the mouth it is elegant and fine with a long and persistent finish. A great wine capable of aging for many years.
