Maranges Magnum 2017 Maison En Belles Lies
It is by following the principles of biodynamic agriculture that Maison En Bells Lies cultivates the vines from which it obtains the Pinot Noir grapes used to make Maranges AOC, a Burgundy red wine produced in the commune of Maranges near the Côte Chalonnaise.
The Maison En Belles Lies cultivates its vines without the use of any type of chemical product, only volcanic sulphur and natural copper are allowed in the vineyard to strengthen and protect the plants, the harvest and selection of the bunches is done manually. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentation is carried out whole cluster using indigenous yeasts in open vats, after racking the wine is left to rest for 15 months in used oak barrels. During bottling, the wine is neither filtered nor clarified and no sulphur is added.
Maranges En Belle Lies is deep ruby red in colour and releases intense aromas of blackberry, blueberry and raspberry on the nose, accompanied by light spicy notes. In the mouth it is warm despite the low alcohol content, with a delicate tannic texture softened by the months spent in barrel.
A great Pinot Noir that is very versatile in food pairings.
