Marsannay Chardonnay Rosè 2020 Sylvain Pataille
Marsannay Chardonnay Rosé 2020 is a natural wine produced in Burgundy by Sylvain Pataille. It is made from a blend of Chardonnay and Chardonnay Rosé, a genetic mutation that was accidentally discovered by Pataille himself.
Sylvain first noticed it in 2002, when he acquired a parcel in Blangeys and at harvest time noticed that some of the grapes were pink in colour. From 2002 to 2005, his Marsannay Blanc consisted of 100 per cent Chardonnay Rose from Blangeys, later the cuvée was made with partial use of other Chardonnay grapes.
He continued with the study and research for this clone and was no longer content with mixing this unique grape variety with traditional Chardonnay, so he decided to plant Les Blangeys vines at a high density (20,000 vines per hectare) to propagate the variety in several Marsannay plots.
The first cuvée was released in 2014: it is a label of which Sylvain Pataille is particularly proud, a white wine with great structure and personality, a true Burgundy gem not to be missed.
