Marsannay Clos du Roy 2019 Jean Fournier
Marsannay Clos du Roy 2019 is a red wine from Burgundy produced by Domaine Jean Fournier, now run by the son of Jean Laurent Fournier, a talented and passionate winemaker who produces wines with authenticity in a non-interventionist style.
Marsannay Clos du Roi is produced with 100% Pinot Noir grapes coming from the "Clos du Roy" vineyard, on soils of limestone-clay origin. Vinification is done by destemming 50% of the grapes, with cold maceration for a period of six days, whereas the subsequent aging takes place for one year half in medium size 600L casks and the other half in 225L new 25% barriques, then another 5-7 months in old 600L casks.
This wine expresses an intense bouquet of red fruits such as raspberry, cranberry and a touch of blackberry. The sip is medium-bodied with silky tannins, balanced with returning fruit and a spicy finish.
