Marsannay Rouge 2021 Sylvain Pataille
The Marsanny Rouge is the basic label in the range of Marsannay red wines produced by the skilled hands of Burgundy master Sylvain Pataille. It fully represents the terroir of the Village and the work of Sylvain Pataille, considered the ambassador of Marsannay.
This wine is made from Pinot Noir grapes from 30-year-old vines grown on clay-limestone soils with the presence of ferrous and marly rock. When the grapes enter the cellar, they are placed in containers for fermentation, i.e. whole cluster with maceration for two to three weeks.
This activates a process well loved by winemakers who intervene little in the cellar and above all work without sulphur dioxide. Vinification takes place in steel and fibreglass containers, after which the wine is placed in used oak barrels for ageing for more than 2 years.
The Marsannay Rouge is a worthy and pure representative of the Marsannay terroir and the work of Pataille: it is a very elegant and velvety wine, with a ruby red colour and a nose of crunchy cherries and spices. In the mouth, there is a remarkable minerality and a dense but well-blended tannic texture.
