Marsannay "Le Chapitre" Magnum 2019 Sylvain Pataille

Marsannay Rouge Le Chapitre 2019 is one of the most prestigious labels in the Domaine Sylvain Pataille range. This fine red wine from Burgundy is made from Pinot Noir grapes from 'Le Chapitre'.

This vineyard extends over 5 hectares at an altitude of 290 metres. When the Marsannay village appellation was created in 1987, only the southern Chenôve part was included, and since Le Chapitre is located to the north of the village, it was excluded, even though it represents one of the best vineyards in this area. In 2019, the INAO finally changed the classification of this vineyard from Bourgogne to Marsannay AOC.

Pataille owns two parcels of this vineyard: one located in the north and a small, recently acquired central portion that he calls his 'little jewel'.

The Marsannay Rouge Le Chapitre 2019 is a red wine of great elegance and concentration: it expresses a beautiful ruby red colour to the eye, while the nose offers a complex bouquet of ripe cherries, berries, floral notes and perfectly integrated wood. On the palate, the wine is very mineral, with firm tannins and beautiful concentration, yet endowed with great elegance.

Domaine Sylvian Pataille is located in Marsannay and has become a real reference in the field of natural viticulture in Burgundy. Sylvain has always been against the principles of standardised wine, seeking to obtain, through biodynamic methods, bottles that authentically reflect the terroir of origin. Sylvain's winemaking philosophy is entirely natural: indigenous yeasts, no chemicals and maximum fermentation temperatures of around 32°C. Winemaking is carried out in stainless steel and fibreglass before going into barrel, ageing is very slow and no sulphur is used. In this way Pataille gives life to authentic and pure wines.
