Meursault "Les Chevalieres" 2018 Fabien Coche
Meursault "Les Chevalieres" 2018 is a fine white Burgundy wine produced by Domaine Fabien Coche from Chardonnay grapes grown in the "Les Chevalieres" vineyard. "Les Chevalieres" is located just above the village of Meursault and adjacent to "Les Luchets", situated at the same altitude as the local Premier Cru vineyards, but slightly further south. A favourable combination of natural factors (a semi-Mediterranean climate, calcareous and clayey soils with stony subsoils, south-eastern orientation of the slopes) has made it possible to cultivate grapes of the highest quality and to obtain a superb white Burgundy wine.
The average age of the vines is 60 years and they are grown organically with minimal interference with the natural process. Thanks to this targeted organic management, the mutual harmony of soil, climate and vines is achieved. The grapes are harvested by hand when they are optimally ripe. After pressing the whole bunches, the resulting must is settled at low temperatures and fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel vats.
Finally, the wine is aged in French oak barrels, 10-15% of which are new, for 12 months, followed by a further 6 months in stainless steel tanks, after which it is bottled without filtration. The 2018 Meursault "Les Chevalieres" gives a complex bouquet of dominant floral notes complemented by subtle nuances of spice and almonds, for a deep, rich, balanced and elegant sip with notes of white flowers, ripe grapes and nutmeg. Bright acidity creates a long, fresh aftertaste with dry mineral tones.
