Monthelie 1er Cru Les Clous 2021 is a red wine produced by Domaine Jean Philippe Fichet. It is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes from this parcel which is located on the opposite side of "Monthelie Blanc", where richer soils are found, ideal for red wines. It is interesting to know that before the introduction of the AOC legislation, wines from the village of Monthélie were sold as Pommard or Volnay. Jean-Philippe Fichet owns land in the Premier Cru "Les Clous" vineyard with vines that are 40 years old. Deep ruby red in colour, it releases a nose of black cherry, raspberry and floral notes. The taste is soft and balanced, with a refined tannic texture and a mineral finish.
