Muscadet de Sévre et Maine Granite 2018 Domaine de l'Ecu
Muscadet de Sévre et Maine Granite 2018 is a Loire Valley white wine produced by Domaine de l'Ecu. It is made from pure Melon de Bourgogne grapes from a single vineyard of about 3 hectares facing southwest, from vines with an average age of about 45-55 years, on stony soils with granite subsoil, hence the name "Granite".
In the vineyard is banned the use of chemicals and only a little bit of copper and sulfur is used, the same is true in the cellar where the interventions are minimal, the alcoholic fermentation is spontaneous and there is no addition of sulfur during vinification. Subsequently the wine is aged in cement tanks on its lees for some months before being bottled.
The 2018 Muscadet de Sévre et Maine Granite from Domaine de l'Ecu shows a nice bright golden yellow color in the glass, while the nose expresses complex hints of yellow fruit such as peach and melon, citrus and white flowers and distinct mineral notes. The sip is taut and mineral but at the same time fresh and persistent: a wine of great territoriality and personality.
