Nerello Cappuccio 2018 Benanti
Nerello Cappuccio 2018 is a Sicilian wine produced by Benanti. It is obtained from Nerello Cappuccio grapes coming from the vineyard in Contrada Cavaliere, south-west side of Etna, within the territory of the Municipality of Santa Maria di Licodia (CT). This area is extremely suitable for the cultivation of Nerello Cappuccio because of the lower rainfall and the excellent exposure.
Harvesting is manual, fermentation takes place with selected yeasts in steel at a controlled temperature, with about 15 days of maceration. The wine then matures in steel for 12 months, before a further refinement in the bottle for about 6 months.
The Nerello Cappuccio of Benanti shows in the glass an intense ruby red colour with slight purple hues. The nose expresses notes of red fruit and herbs, while the taste is medium-bodied, with good acidity but slight tannin, with a finish of red fruits.
