Nuits Saint Georges "Les Damodes" 2022 Frédéric Cossard
This organic and natural red Burgundy wine, crafted by Frédéric Cossard, comes from the esteemed Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. The name "Les Damodes" is believed to be derived from ancient pre-Gallo-Roman female deities, the Earth goddesses, or druidesses. This cuvée reflects Cossard's dedication to producing wines that express both the terroir and his unique, biodynamic approach to winemaking.
Made from 100% Pinot Noir, the grapes for this wine are sourced from the "Les Damodes" parcel in Nuits-Saint-Georges. The vines thrive in finely gravelly brown limestone soils interspersed with clay and silt. The parcel’s cooler microclimate, located just 400 meters from Romanée Conti, allows the grapes to develop a unique balance of freshness and concentration.
Cossard employs natural vinification techniques, starting with whole cluster maceration that lasts three to four weeks. The wine is then aged for about a year in oak barrels, allowing it to develop depth and complexity. Following aging, the wine is bottled without fining or filtration, and no sulfites are added, preserving the purest expression of the Pinot Noir grape.
Nuits Saint Georges "Les Damodes" 2022 offers a tender and silky texture, combined with a solid structure. It is a concentrated and floral wine, displaying a beautiful freshness and elegance.
