Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru “Île de Vergelesses” 2023 Domaine Rapet
The Pernand-Vergelesses Premier Cru “Île de Vergelesses” 2023 from Domaine Rapet is a fine red Burgundy wine, showcasing the exceptional expression of Pinot Noir. Sourced from vines over 50 years old, this vineyard sits on a perfectly balanced terroir of limestone and iron-rich soils, providing both structure and finesse.
The winemaking process is meticulous, ensuring the preservation of the fruit’s purity. The grapes are hand-harvested in small crates for careful selection before being gently transferred to the winery. Fermentation lasts 15 days, with light pigeage to extract richness and color before pressing. The wine is then aged in oak barrels (20% new), enhancing complexity while maintaining its elegant character.
The Île de Vergelesses vineyard is uniquely positioned between the Savigny and Pernand climats, bordered by two paths that create an “island” on the mid-slope. This location is ideal for producing age-worthy wines, capable of aging for over a decade, developing remarkable silky tannins, finesse, and aromatic depth. The result is a charming, smooth, and lively wine, standing out for its refined elegance and bright, joyful character.
It pairs beautifully with beef fillet, veal sauté, lacquered lamb shoulder, duck fricassée, or a fine selection of aged cheeses. Serve at 15°C to fully appreciate its aromas and structure.
