The so-called "tumbler" is a particular type of glass with a thick bottom typically used to serve distillates and liqueurs "On the Rocks", that is, with ice, also called Old Fashioned.
The tumbler is usually a type of tall glass, but the amount of distillate that must be poured is actually a few fingers to allow a proper breath of its effluent thus fully enjoying the intrinsic aromas.
For some time now, an "invention" that has been particularly interesting in combination with tumblers and, therefore, distillates, are balls of marble, hard stone or, more rarely, stainless steel that must be frozen directly in the freezer and then replace the classic ice cube usually used, in fact, in On the Rocks drinks and in particular in distillates.
Using the iced spheres, the distillate is kept cold throughout its tasting, but avoiding the watering caused by the melting of the ice cubes.
