Dr. Mayer Pinot Noir Yarra Valley 2019 Timo Mayer
Dr. Mayer is a stunning Pinot Noir produced by Timo Mayer using natural methods. An Australian red wine of great elegance and personality, made from grapes sourced from the Bloody Hill vineyard, south of Healesville, at the base of Toolebewoong Mountain.
The vineyard expands 2.5 and is very steep, with shallow gravel soil interspersed with broken sandstone on rock, at an elevation of about 200 metres above sea level. The climate is cool compared to the rest of Australia's viticultural regions, with rainfall in winter and spring and relatively cool, dry and wet summers.
Harvesting is strictly by hand, fermentation takes place spontaneously in open vats with minimal intervention, then the wines are matured for 11 months in French vats on the lees and bottled without clarification or filtration.
Timo Mayer's 2019 Yarra Valley Pinot Noir expresses aromas of raspberries, blueberries, black cherries and lots of sweet spices on the nose. The sip is full, rich, elegant and with well-blended tannins.
