The Côtes du Jura Pinot Noir En Barberon 2020 by Domaine Tissot is an extraordinary expression of Pinot Noir, notable for its finesse and depth, comparable to the best Burgundy wines. This wine comes from a 1.8-hectare parcel in Jura, characterized by clay soils with Lias marl and limestone skeleton on the surface. The vines, with an average age of 42 years, are trained using the Guyot method with a density of 3,000 vines per hectare, producing an average yield of 15 hl per hectare.
The winemaking process begins with a whole-cluster maceration for one month, followed by spontaneous fermentation in truncated cone-shaped oak vats. The wine is then aged for one year in 228-liter oak barrels, of which 30% are new. This process gives the wine a complex structure and perfect balance between freshness and depth.
Organoleptically, the Côtes du Jura Pinot Noir En Barberon presents an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it reveals a complex bouquet of dynamic red fruits such as cherry and raspberry, enriched with smoky and spicy notes. On the palate, the wine is exuberant and full-bodied, with a very fine tannic texture reminiscent of the great Pinot Noirs of the Côte de Nuits.
