AGNES PAQUET
Agnès Paquet, sustainable wines from Auxey-Duresses
Agnès Paquet's family had acquired a plot of land in the Auxey-Duresses appellation since the 1950s. When they decided to sell it, Agnès, who has a degree in economics, decided to manage it and become a winegrower. After completing her studies in oenology, in 2000 she began working the parcel of around 5 hectares in the commune of Auxey-Duresses, lieu dit Les Hoz, which had been leased out until then.
Over time she acquired other plots, until she reached the current 13 hectares in the appellations Bourgogne Aligoté, Bourgogne Chardonnay, Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Hautes Cotes de Beaune blanc and rouge, Auxey-Duresses, Pommard, Chassagne-Montrachet, St. Aubin 1er cru Les Perrières. After the first official vintage, 2001, they began to adhere to organic farming methods in 2004.
The grapes are harvested strictly by hand, the use of sulphur dioxide is reduced to a minimum and only when deemed strictly necessary. According to the Domaine's style, the red wines express fruit well, while the white wines enhance freshness and minerality.
