BODEGAS FORJAS DEL SALNES
Bodegas Forjas de Salnés authentic wines from Spain
Forjas de Salnés is a Spanish winery located in the region of Galicia, born in 2005 from the collaboration between Raúl Pérez and Rodri Méndez, with the aim of producing white wines from old Albariños vines and red wines from the region. Rodri is a member of the family that owns and manages Do Ferreiro, an important producer in the Rías Baixas.
A great connoisseur of the area, with the intention of growing red grapes from a terroir of whites, he enlisted the help of Raúl Pérez, who had the idea of re-evaluating old Albariño plantations, many of which had been abandoned. The reds are collectively called Tintos de Mar, or 'Reds of the Sea', due to the proximity of the production area to the ocean.
The main low red varieties are Caiño, Loureiro Tinto and Espadeiro. Forjas del Salnés comprises a total of 12 hectares of vineyards in the Salnés region, some of which are owned and some of which are leased. All the plots are vinified separately in order to maintain the natural characteristics of the grapes, the different soils, altitudes and distance from the sea.
