CLEMENS BUSCH
Clemens Busch, maestro del Riesling artigianale in Mosella
Rita and Clemens Busch cultivate 16 hectares of vineyards in Punderich in organic farming and the largest vineyard, Marienburg, located on the opposite bank of the village, from where you can see a panorama of the Mosel. Rita and Clemens represent the fifth generation at the helm of this farm, pioneer in organic farming (since 1984) and biodynamic farming (in the early 2000s).
Located in Pünderich, the vineyards are located on the dividing line between the Mittel Mosel and the lower Mosel, in an area with imposing cliffs and a wild landscape with a unique geology based on volcanic formations which mix the three colors of shale (blue, red and grey) around the cru called Marienburg.
After a bureaucratic decision of the German federal government which was widely criticized in 1971 for not distinguishing the different nuances of the Marienburg cru, historically contained in an area of 23 hectares, which was expanded to 90 hectares including low quality flat areas, Clemens instead made an effort to distinguish within Marienburg distinct sub-areas identified today as Fahrlay, Falkenlay, Rothenpfad, Felsterrasse and Raffes and to define wines according to soil types.
