David Duband, great organic wines from Burgundy

Domaine David Duband is a wine estate of great importance in Burgundy. It is located in Chevannes, in the heart of the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, and covers 17 hectares of vineyards spread over 23 prestigious appellations from Nuits-Saint-Georges to Gevrey-Chambertin. The vines are cultivated using Ecocert-certified organic farming systems, and in addition to the estate vineyards, grapes are also purchased from small growers whose sustainable production philosophy is assured.

The origins of the Domaine date back to 1965 when the father of the current owner, Pierre Duband, used to give the grapes from his 15 hectares of vines to the cooperatives in Beaune. In 1991, his son David, driven by the desire to make his own wine, started his own production, initially renting one and a half hectares, and then inheriting his father's estate in '95. A decisive factor was his meeting with François Feuillet, a Parisian Burgundy enthusiast, who decided to buy half of the Domaine's assets.

In 2006, the estate was enlarged by acquiring 7 hectares from Domaine Truchot, including Grand Crus such as Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny Les Santiers and other 1er crus such as Morey-St Denis, Clos Sorbé, Les Sentiers and Les Combottes. But that's not all, because in 2009 two more prestigious Grand Crus were added: Chambertin and Latricières-Chambertin. Before he started applying organic farming methods, Duband's wines were defined as "modern", i.e. designed to be full-bodied, fruity and without the edges of long ageing in wood. Since 2008, David has changed his style, moving towards organic principles, and his bottles are more authentic and expressive, with a distinct minerality that recalls the terroir, which is intended to highlight the differences between the individual plots.
