Domaine Des Terres Dorées, vini naturali del Beaujolais

The Domaine Terres Dorées extends over 44 hectares with vines in different appellations of Beaujolais. Originally comprising only four hectares, this is a project that Jean-Paul Brun has expanded since he took over in 1979. Based in Charnay-en Beaujolais, a village near Villié-Morgon, the Domaine cultivates different types of grape varieties like 19 hectares of Gamay, 8 of Chardonnay, 2 of Pinot Meunier and one hectare of Roussanne.

The company is located within some of the most beautiful appellations of Beaujolais: five hectares in Fleurie, four in Moulin-à-Vent, four in Brouilly and finally one hectare in Morgon. Jean-Paul Brun is a follower of the natural method who is gaining a large following in Beaujolais thanks to how well it lends itself to the Gamay grape. Its vinification method, however, is more in the Burgundian style as it completely destems the grapes before pressing and vinifying them with long macerations and according to the traditional Beaujolais method which requires that the wines be vinified in bunches and semi-carbonic macerations.

The result is wines that have a quality similar to that of Pinot Noir and that can be enjoyed young but also have great aging potential. Brun's methods aim to respect both the environment and what ends up in the glass. He plows his land, and copper and sulfur replace crop protection products. Natural yeasts are used to ferment wine. This Domaine produces many different and elegant wines, each expressing its individual terroir. It is a company that is gaining an excellent reputation and is a major exporter to Europe, North America and Asia.
