DOMAINE MARYSE CHATELIN
Domaine Maryse Chatelin, organic wines from Burgundy
Domaine Maryse Chatelin is located in Uchizy, north of Macon, in Burgundy. The winery was founded by Maryse Chatelain and Alexandre Jouveaux, who moved to Burgundy from Paris in the early 1990s and began cultivating their first plot in 1999, combining Alexandre's work in the domaine with his teaching duties at the local oenology school.
After choosing to devote himself totally to working in the vineyard, he immediately adopted a philosophy of minimal intervention and environmental sustainability. The harvest is done by hand and the grapes are then pressed without any additions. The same barrels are used every year for the same wine because they believe that yeasts and bacteria are in symbiosis with the fruit of the vineyards.
All wines are bottled without sulphur and the total production is tiny with less than 5,000 bottles in a fruitful year. Creativity and careful selection of blends result in a well crafted, balanced and very special wine.
