DOMAINE THIERRY MORTET
The Domaine Thierry Mortet is young, founded in 1992 to be exact, relying however on the cultivation of the vines of a much older tradition revived following the dissolution of the estate in the same year: the < strong> Domain Mortet Charles & Fils where the father shares the estate between his two sons.
The young age of this domaine has not, however, affected the high quality of the wines produced which there are over 10 recognized denominations and several awards and praises published in many national newspapers and industry competitions.
Thierry Mortet rises in the center of the village of Gevrey-Chambertin north of the wine coast, the Cotes de Nuits, between Dijon and Nuits-Saint-Georges, where the grapes ripen on a clay limestone terroir, white marl, lava base and a rock and gravel bottom.
The organoleptic characteristics conferred by the terroir and the typical climate of the area, combined with production techniques that since 2007 are increasingly shifting towards organic farming, give Mortet wines a distinct, complex and lively character.
Since 2007, Thierry Mortet has wanted to finalize the conversion into BIO of cultivation techniques in order to carry forward what was his primary goal from the moment in which he took over his share of the legacy of the former paternal estate: to produce wines that can express all the power, finesse and great quality of his vineyard and the terroir that cradles it.
