Dr. Thanish, Mosella fine wines

We are in the Moselle region, Germany's most renowned wine district.

The denomination "Mosel" has over 10,000 hectares of vineyards, often terraced, which rise along the 150 curved kilometers of this river.

Here the climate is extreme because we are at a limit latitude for the cultivation of the vine (we are on the 50th parallel). The vineyards are distributed on both sides of the river and which hosts the undisputed protagonist of this region in the highest areas, where the sun breaks with greater force: riesling, the vine that occupies half of the local vineyard and identifies a terroir Magnificent.

In particular we are in Bernkastel, it controls the capital of the wines of Germany, where the company of Dr. Thanish is among the main references for the production of wine. The Thanish family has an ancient tradition that began about 350 years ago, from 1963 when it was mentioned for the first time in the village records: today the cellar is among the most interesting realities regarding Moselle wines.

Quality has always been one of the major standards of the company, the main merit of which derives from the practices in force which are carried out with attention and respect for the territory in every step, manual grape harvesting, controlled fermentation, and finally all the wines of Thanish ripen in traditional wooden barrels at constant temperature.

Recently the company has invested in a favor of modern technologies, in fact even in the very particular cellar, dug in the rock under the vineyard, is one of the merits of recognition of the Thanish family.
