DRAPPIER
Drappier: authentic Champagne since 1808
Maison Drappier was founded in 1808 in Urville, in the regione of Champagne, where the first vineyards were planted, and today boasts an extensive estate where half of the hectares of vineyards are cultivated according to organic principles.
The historic Maison is one of the most recognized realities in Champagne: they were the first to abolish the cultivation of Gamay to devote themselves almost exclusively to Pinot Noir, in a territory particularly suited for the production of it, with more than 100 hectares to which a little more is added to Choully for the most important cuvees.
Pinot Noir is also accompanied by a small production of indigenous vines forgotten by Champagne producers, such as the Arbanne, the petit Meslier and the Blanc Vrai. Its Champagnes are carefully processed for each production phase and in a sustainable way: minimum doses of sulfur, reduction of sulphites, use of malolactic and lengthening of the dwell time on the lees are used in the vineyard: fine and creamy full Champagnes are thus obtained.
Today it is Micheal Drappier who leads the company by laying the foundations of his work on the authenticity of his bottles, which thanks to the minimal use of sulphites and sulfur dioxide give life to Champagne which represent the terroir of origin in a pure and natural way.
