EDMOND VATAN

Domaine Edmond Vatan is a family-owned estate in Sancerre, in the Loire Valley, which is quite famous in the area. Edmond and his daughter Anne produce just one label: Clos La Néore, which takes its name from a small parcel of Les Monts Damnès and is made from vines at least 60 years old, managed in a precise, traditional and sustainable way.

Production is very limited and given the name the Vatans have made for themselves in Sancerre, their wines are highly sought after and often difficult to find, reserved for a close circle of acquaintances. Anne took over from her father in 2008, although Edmond, now in his eighties, continues to follow the work of his daughter, who has nevertheless proved capable of maintaining production at very high levels.

Their wine, which has become iconic, is an extraordinary combination of simplicity and elegance and at the same time power and character. You cannot fully understand it without having met Edmond and Anne, who have great sensitivity, simplicity and unconditional love for their land.
