ELODIE ROY

Domaine Elodie Roy is a Burgundy winery located in Cheilly-lès-Maranges, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. Her Domaine is very young, with the first harvest in 2018 and first vintage released in 2019, but Elodie is anything but a novice in this field. After a master's degree in public law, then an express apprenticeship in banking, Elodie returned to Beaune to train in International Trade applied to wines and spirits.

After an internship at RVF and Cuisine et Vins de France, Elodie found her first wine-related job at Domaine Anne Gros. It was there that she would stay for 11 years, where she learned the rigour in the vineyard and cellar necessary to produce great wines. In 2018, she took over the 10 hectares of vines belonging to her father and grandfather spread over 7 appellations, with 85% of the vines planted to Pinot Noir. Elodie immediately put into practice her idea of making wine based on a soil-conscious and sustainable type of viticulture, looking for good ripeness, especially in the rather late areas where her vineyards are located, towards Cheilly-lès-Maranges.

In the cellar, there are no predefined rules because Elodie likes to play with whole grapes at different percentages depending on the harvest and plots. Regional appellation wines are aged between 10 and 12 months; village appellation wines, such as Maranges and Santenay, are aged slightly longer, between 12 and 16 months. Ageing in wood is, however, very well researched.
