GANEVAT
Jean-François Ganevat, il monumento dello Jura
Domaine Ganevat is a benchmark for generations of winemakers, a master of modern winemaking.
The history of the family has been intertwined with wine for a long time, as early as the mid-16th century, the Ganevats grew vines and raised livestock in the south of the Jura. These activities were handed down from generation to generation until 1976, when Jean-François Ganevat's father decided to abandon farming and concentrate exclusively on wine-growing.
The young Jean-François then decided to enrol in the prestigious Beaune Oenological School, followed by nine years as a "Maître de Chai" with Jean-Marc Morey in Chassagne-Montrachet. At the end of this period he returned home to take the reins of the family Domaine and his first move was to convert all his vineyards to organic, before switching to biodynamic in 2006.
From 2013, the winery also decided to buy grapes from a number of Jean-François who, like him, shared the same production philosophy and whom he personally helps at all stages of the production process. Thanks to these purchases, Jean-François Ganevat produces up to 40 different labels in the best vintages.
The aim of "Fanfan" Ganevat is to produce wines from the Jura following the same philosophy and applying the same attention to detail with which the great wines of Burgundy are produced.
Through a maniacal cleaning, without soaps or chemicals, of all the working tools, Ganevat tries and succeeds in obtaining 100% clean grapes, which he destems in person together with his collaborators.
The result of this care and attention are his wines, authentic portraits of the Jura region, which have quickly become true monuments of modern oenology.
