JEAN CHARTRON
Domaine Jean Chartron is a historic Burgundy winery founded in 1859 by Jean-Edouard Dupard, who in 1873, when he was mayor of Puligny, pushed for the name Montrachet to be associated with Puligny. The winery sold its grapes to merchants in Beaune until 1989.
Since 1994, it has undergone a remarkable turnaround thanks to the brilliant Jean-Michel, now running the business after five family generations.
The estate's vineyards are cultivated mainly with chardonnay and pinot noir and extend across the most significant parcels in the commune, including Clos de la Pucelle and Clos du Cailleret, with their varied and heterogeneous soils, a true expression of Burgundy and its terroir.
The Domaine Jean Chartron has always used methods that are minimally invasive and respectful of the environment, safeguarding the rurality of the district to which it belongs and producing authentic, clean wines, expressions of the terroir and tradition.
