JEAN MARC PILLOT
Jean-Marc Pillot, master of Chassagne Montrachet
Jean-Marc Pillot is a Burgundy winery located in Chassagne Montrachet. Jean-Marc, who represents the fourth generation of the family, started working alongside his father Jean in 1985 and in 1991 he took over the reins of the winery together with his wife Nadine and his sister Beatrice. Jean-Marc renovated the winery by building a new grotto, enlarged the cultivated vineyards and made some changes to the wine-making process.
Today, the company has a total of fifteen hectares with an annual production of more or less 60,000 bottles, and is mainly dedicated to the production of white wines, as well as important red wine cuvées. The vineyards are throughout the village of Chassagne with affiliated plots in Puligny, Santenay, Meursault and Remigny (to the south). This wide range of plots allows the Pillot family to produce an extraordinary range of wines that showcase the intricate terroir in this southern part of the Côte de Beaune.
The jewels of the estate are the Crus of Baudines, Chenevottes, Macherelles, Vergers, Morgeot, Caillerets, La Maltroie and Champs Gain and the Premier Crus of Macherelles, Morgeot and Clos St.Jean, all located within the boundaries of Chassagne Montrachet. However, wines from less exalted appellations should not be overlooked, such as Bourgogne Blanc ""Grands Champs"", Bourgogne Rouge ""Grandes Terres"" and the expressive Santenay Rouge ""Champs Claude"".
