JEREMY RECCHIONE
A microcantina with great stories to tell
Jeremy Recchione has been cultivating a deep passion for wine for a decade; in 2010 he took his first steps in Burgundy, working in Domaine Pierre Naigeon, where he was able to appreciate the richness and complexity of Burgundian terroirs. After a brief experience in Australia, he returned to the Côte de Nuits in 2013, where he began producing his first bottles from grapes purchased from winemaker friends. "For me it is first and foremost a passion, to cultivate and transform a natural raw material to enhance its qualities and offer a final product of excellence", Jeremy explains with contagious enthusiasm.
For six years, Jeremy Recchione patiently honed his craft, experimenting, listening and perfecting his technique. In 2019 he made the big leap, acquiring the Aligoté vineyard "Les Cerisiers" in Messanges, in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits, and founding his own estate, with a very clear production philosophy.
"The philosophy of the estate is first of all to respect nature and what it gives us. We work the vines in the most natural way possible. The wines are then vinified without any intervention. We select the bunches in the vineyard and harvest in small 5-kg boxes to preserve the integrity of the grapes. We use only indigenous yeasts for fermentations and do not add anything. The use of sulfites is zero or minimized. Our wines simply want to give pleasure and emotion."
Based in the heart of Burgundy, in Gevrey Chambertin, Domaine Jeremy Recchione mainly grows Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes in the following appellations: Bourgogne Chardonnay (plot located in Meursault), Saint Romain "La combe Bazin," Gevrey Chambertin "Creux Brouillard," Fixin 1er cru "Les Hervelets," Fixin 1er cru "Les Hervelets." But also varietal wines (Syrah, Grenache and Viognier) in the south of the Rhone Valley, not far from Cornas.
Jeremy Recchione currently produces only 2,500 bottles, but there is no doubt that he represents the future of Burgundian viticulture.
