JOSEPH DROUHIN
In the heart of Burgundy since 1880
Domaine Joseph Drouhin is a prestigious winery located in the Burgundy wine region of France. Founded in 1880 by Joseph Drouhin, the winery has been passed from generation to generation and is now led by the fourth generation of the family.
The Domaine has about 73 hectares of vineyards, spread throughout Burgundy, including some of the world's most prestigious wine areas, such as Chambertin, Clos des Mouches and Montrachet. The vineyards are farmed sustainably, with the aim of preserving soil and plant biodiversity, and some of them have been converted to organic and biodynamic viticulture.
Domaine Joseph Drouhin's winemaking techniques are highly sophisticated and aim to preserve the authenticity and complexity of the wines. Harvesting is done manually to ensure the integrity of the grapes. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature and the use of indigenous yeasts, sourced from the terroir itself, allows the natural characteristics of the wine to be enhanced. Maturation takes place in wooden barrels of different sizes and origins, so as to achieve the right harmony between the wine and the wood.
Domaine Joseph Drouhin was one of the first winemakers in Burgundy to engage in organic viticulture, starting in 1990. The winery has since expanded its efforts toward organic and biodynamic viticulture, and today many of its vineyards are certified organic or in conversion. This commitment reflects the winery's strong focus on sustainability and environmental conservation.
In summary, Domaine Joseph Drouhin is a highly prestigious winery with a history dating back more than a century. Its vineyards, sustainably farmed using organic and biodynamic viticultural techniques, are located in some of the world's most prestigious wine-growing areas. Sophisticated winemaking techniques that are attentive to the authenticity of the wine allow them to produce white and red wines of great complexity, elegance and structure.
