LUIGI VICO
Luigi Vico, pure expression of Barolo
Azienda Agricola Luigi Vico is based in the Langhe region of Piedmont, specifically in the municipality of Serralunga d'Alba, and has very ancient origins dating back to the late 1600s. For generations, the company has been selling grapes to third parties until in 2016 Luigi decided to make his own wine. He is still a boy when he helps his grandparents in the vineyard, learning the work and the passion for it and for their land, until he decides to start making wine from the grapes he owns.
Today the winery has an extension of about 2 hectares of vineyards in the Barolo area, organically cultivated (in the process of being certified) from which he obtains a limited production of Barolo from the town of Serralunga d'Alba and of Barolo Prapò, processed according to a clear philosophy: to enhance the territory and to give Nebbiolo grapes the possibility to express themselves in the purest way.
In order to obtain wines which best express the terroir, Luigi chooses to make fermentations in cement and the aging in French wood barrels from Fontainebleau forest and Slavonia for Barolo. For all the other labels of the range he uses steel for the fermentations and barriques and tonneaux for the ageing, aiming to exalt freshness and fruit.
