Domaine Marc Delienne is located in Fleurie, in the heart of France's Beaujolais region. The estate covers an area of about 5 hectares and produces wines that best express the terroir of Fleurie and the savoir-faire of its founder, Marc Delienne.
Marc Delienne, a former Parisian banker, decided to radically change his life and pursue a career as a winemaker. He took the plunge in 2015 when he bought Domaine de la Chapelle des Bois, a historic property with vineyards in Fleurie, thus founding his Domaine Marc Delienne. To perfect his skills and knowledge in viticulture and winemaking, Marc took courses at the famous Burgundy Wine Institute and spent time with some of the world's greatest winemakers.
Today the Domaine covers about 5 hectares of vineyards located mainly in Fleurie, one of the ten Cru of Beaujolais. The vineyards are located on granite soils and are divided into several parcels, each with its own unique characteristics. Notable among these parcels are Le Vivier, an approximately 1-hectare plot with granitic soils and a southern exposure. The vines have an average age of 60 years and La Chapelle des Bois, a 2-hectare parcel with granitic soils and a southeastern exposure. The vines have an average age of 40 years.
Domaine Marc Delienne follows a growing and winemaking philosophy based on respect for nature and biodiversity. The winery practices organic farming and follows biodynamic principles to preserve soil life and the balance of the ecosystem.
Grapes are harvested by hand and winemaking is done with indigenous yeasts to preserve the authenticity of flavors and expression of terroir. Maceration and extraction are conducted delicately to obtain wines of great finesse and complexity. The wines are then aged in wooden barrels for a variable period depending on the wine and vintage.
