MIGLIAVACCA
Migliavacca, pionieri del vino biodinamico in Italia
Migliavacca is a biodynamic farm in Piedmont, located in the Monferrato Casalese. Its origins date back to 1921, when Enrico Brezza decided to buy this historic estate with about 7 hectares of land.
Over the years the winery increased its size until in 1964 it became the first winery in Italy to convert to the principles of biodynamic agriculture, thanks to the work of Luigi who became a real reference for many winemakers such as Stefano Bellotti.
Today the company is run by Luigi's son Francesco and has a total of 50 hectares, 13 of which are vineyards and the rest are cultivated with hay and cereals. In this system of land cultivation, cattle breeding is fundamental, as they transform agricultural production into organic substance to fertilise the vine-covered land, starting a new life cycle, thus creating a completely self-sufficient system.
Fermentations take place spontaneously in wooden barrels and only a small amount of sulphur dioxide is used, after which they are refined in wooden barrels and bottled without clarification or filtration.
