NERVI CONTERNO
On the northern side of Piedmont, at the foot of Monte Rosa, lies the Nervi - Conterno winery, the oldest in Gattinara, founded in 1906. Acquired in 2018 by Roberto Conterno, Nervi underwent significant modernization, including the creation of a new winery and the transformation of the original structure into a historical space dedicated to the wine archive. Additionally, the former office building is now an elegant restaurant, Cucine Nervi, offering a high-level food and wine experience.
With 27 hectares of vineyards on volcanic soils rich in porphyry, Nervi maximizes the unique climate of Gattinara, characterized by notable day-to-night temperature variations that are ideal for the maturation of Nebbiolo, locally known as Spanna. Winemaking follows a traditional approach, with fermentation in oak vats and cement tanks, followed by long aging periods in large barrels. The goal is to highlight the unique qualities of the Gattinara terroir, which imparts a distinctive minerality and refinement to the Nebbiolo.
Nervi offers various interpretations of Nebbiolo, including a Metodo Classico sparkling wine, a rosé, and the prestigious red crus ‘Vigna Molsino’ and ‘Vigna Valferana,’ pinnacle expressions of the Gattinara appellation. Each wine in the line is distinguished by elegance and refinement, solidifying Nervi - Conterno’s status as a benchmark for Piedmontese winemaking.
