Philippe Glavier Champagne Blanc de Blancs

Domaine Philippe Glavier is based in Cramant but has vineyards in the most beautiful Grand cru communes in the area. 

A Vigneron Indépendant in the fullest sense of the word, Philippe Glavier makes his Champagnes, as he himself says, from A to Z, that is, from the budding of the vine to the sparkling, ready-to-taste glass. His curriculum vitae speaks for itself: belonging to a historic dynasty of vignerons, he took over the reins of the family business in 1995 and since then he has been transferring his convictions, his taste and his savoir-faire into the wine he produces, incorporating the skills he acquired in Avize, at the Lycée Viticole, and in his higher studies as an Agronomist and Oenologist.

The style of his wines is, to use four synthetic adjectives, extrovert, powerful, sensual and expressive. Here we are looking for maturity that is complete but never exaggerated, wines that live on grace and stage presence rather than tension, wines that focus on the satisfaction, not only hedonistic but also aesthetic and cerebral, of those who taste them.

Each of them finds an ideal dimension when paired with food, as one should expect from the best Champagnes from RM (Récoltants-Manipulants); but the remarkable thing from our point of view is that even the simplest wines in the range, which the company itself refers to as "apéritifs", are in fact extraordinarily supple at the table and suitable for accompanying a large number of dishes and even the whole meal.

Some "dry" data to close: the entire line proposed is made of Champagne Grand Cru, almost all the grapes come from the blessed hills of Cramant, where the Maison is based, and the balance carefully chosen from the best municipalities in the region; the vineyard owned amounts to only 4.4 hectares, with almost all Chardonnay; the dosages are always very cautious, and potentially qualify all wines as "Extra brut"; the entire production chain takes place in the Domaine.

The entire production process takes place in the Domaine. A brand whose superb quality should be verified not so much "with the hand" as "with the lips", whenever possible.
