RODRIGO MENDEZ
Rodrigo Mendez, intimate and territorial wines
After founding the family "bodega" Forjas del Salnes in 2005 with the partnership of Raúl Pérez, in 2012 Rodrigo Mendez, driven by the need to create a more intimate and personal project, set up a winery under his own name, managed entirely by himself.
He established the new winery in his birthplace, Meaño, taking over some of the vineyards in the area from which his first wine (El Barredo) is produced, named after the 80-year-old vineyard of the same name in Valtuille de Abajo.
The winery's philosophy is based on the principles of agriculture that respects and rehabilitates the land, with the cultivation of old vines, vinification in used French oak barrels and long macerations and very little pumping over, to maintain as much as possible the characteristics of the land from which the grapes come.
Fermentation takes place spontaneously using only the natural yeasts present on the skins and after 12 months' refinement, the wine is bottled without any filtration or clarification.
